The lid features a delicate ballerina silhouette, carefully made using walnut veneer and set within a sycamore veneer surround. This quiet, elegant design makes the box especially suited as a gift for ballet dancers, dance students, dance teachers, or anyone with a love of dance and fine craftsmanship.
Each box is handmade by me in my workshop from local Irish elm that I personally milled on my own sawmill. The timber was air-dried for several years and then kiln-dried before making, helping to create a stable, durable box with natural warmth, figure and individual character.
Inside, the base is lined with dark charcoal faux suede to provide a soft, refined surface for jewellery, keepsakes and small treasures. The underside is also faux suede lined to help protect polished furniture and delicate surfaces.
Finished in a durable commercial-grade satin lacquer, this Irish elm jewellery box requires no special aftercare and is made to be used, displayed and treasured for years to come.
