Making a Bespoke Kitchen Table

A behind-the-scenes look at a handmade kitchen table being made in my Northern Ireland workshop. From shaping and preparing the timber to careful assembly and finishing, each stage is carried out with attention to strength, proportion and detail.

This work reflects my approach to furniture making — using solid timber, traditional craftsmanship and practical design to create pieces that feel natural in the home and are made to be used for many years.

Steam Bending Chair Components

A behind-the-scenes look at traditional steam bending in the workshop, shaping solid timber into curved chair components. This process uses heat, moisture and careful forming to create strong, graceful curves that would be difficult to achieve by cutting alone.

Made in my Northern Ireland workshop, these details show the skill and patience involved in bespoke furniture making — combining traditional techniques with carefully selected timber to create pieces with strength, movement and character.

Hand Finishing in the Workshop

A behind-the-scenes look at the finishing process, where timber is carefully stained by hand to bring out the colour, grain and character of the wood. This stage is an important part of the making process, adding depth and warmth before the final protective finish is applied.

Carried out in my Northern Ireland workshop, each piece is finished with care and attention to detail, helping create furniture and wooden pieces that look refined, feel considered and are made to last.
