Each box is handmade by me in my workshop using timber that I milled on my own sawmill. The elm was air-dried for several years and then kiln-dried before making, helping to create a stable, durable box with beautiful natural grain, warmth and individual character.
The lid features a boxing hares marquetry motif, carefully made using walnut veneer with a sycamore veneer surround. Boxing hares are a familiar symbol of spring, courtship and rural life, making this box a meaningful piece for anyone with a love of nature, Irish wildlife or the countryside.
Inside, the base is lined with dark grey charcoal faux suede, providing a soft place for jewellery, keepsakes and small treasures. The underside is also faux suede lined to help protect polished furniture and delicate surfaces.
