This handmade Ballerina Jewellery Box is crafted from solid, ethically sourced local Irish elm and features an elegant ballerina motif in traditional marquetry.
Each box is made by me in my workshop using timber that I milled on my own sawmill. The elm was air-dried for several years and then kiln-dried before making, helping to create a stable, durable box with beautiful natural grain, warmth and individual character.
The lid features a graceful ballerina marquetry design, carefully made in walnut veneer with a sycamore veneer surround. The design makes this wooden keepsake box especially suitable as a thoughtful gift for ballet dancers, dance students, dance teachers or anyone with a love of ballet.
Inside, the base is lined with dark grey charcoal faux suede, providing a soft, refined place for jewellery, keepsakes, small treasures and special mementoes. The underside is also faux suede lined to help protect polished furniture and delicate surfaces.
High-quality solid brass hinges, made in the UK, complete the piece. An optional solid sycamore tray is also available, as shown in the image gallery.
