RMS Titanic Box
I have designed and made this box to celebrate the construction and launch of RMS Titanic.
In Ireland we are rightly proud that the Titanic and her sister ships were built in Belfast.
The box can be used as a jewellery box, keepsake box or to store that special something.
The box is made of Irish elm, sycamore and American black walnut.
The marquetry on the top of the box is of Titanic cruising at full speed and is made from sycamore and American black walnut veneers.
The lining of the internal base of the box is in a dark charcoal Irish beetled linen. This linen is sourced from Ireland’s oldest linen fabric mill. It has been given a lustrous finish by a highly skilled and rare process called beetling. This is the last commercial beetling mill in the world.
The bottom of the box is in a faux suede ensuring the surface on which the box is placed is protected.
The high-quality hinges are made of solid brass and are made in the UK.
The box is available with an optional tray made of solid sycamore and lined in beetled linen to match the box. A picture of the optional tray can be seen in the gallery. The base of the tray has faux suede base as per the box.
Dimensions
270mm long x150mm wide x90mm high
Weight
Approx. 1kg
Finish
All my boxes unless otherwise stated are finished with a high-quality commercial grade satin lacquer. This means the box will require no special aftercare. As with all wooden products it is advisable to keep them out of direct sunlight.
