This boxing hares inspired jewellery or keepsake box is handmade by myself from solid ethically sourced local Irish elm wood.
I used my own sawmill to plank the tree and then air dried the resulting planks for several years. Prior to making the box the wood was kiln dried in my kiln.
The motif of the boxing hares is in walnut veneer with a surround of sycamore veneer and is created using a technique called marquetry.
The lining of the internal base of the box is in a dark grey/charcoal faux suede. The bottom of the box is also in a faux suede ensuring the surface on which the box is placed is protected.

Finish
All my boxes unless otherwise stated are finished with a high-quality commercial grade satin lacquer. This means the box will require no special aftercare. As with all wooden products it is advisable to keep them out of direct sunlight.
